As a modern, vegan woman in her early 30’s, I won’t compromise on the quality of my skincare. I want clean, cruelty-free, vegan skincare that I can trust to deliver results. For over 10 years I’ve tried many products but one skincare brand I use daily is human+kind.
So let me tell you why!
1. Skincare with a conscience
Above all else, a product has to be vegan and cruelty-free before it even gets a look-in right? And this brand’s slogan encompasses its core values of producing ‘Vegan, natural, cruelty-free personal skincare products, free from harmful chemicals’. As elaborated further on their website, they do not use any animal by-products such as honey or beeswax and all products are produced without animal testing. Well done!
What’s more, you can rest assured that the brand does its part for the environment too by using both recyclable and recycled materials as well as using less packaging.
Moreover, human+kind states that their ingredients are ethically sourced, and they take part in community outreach and charity work. Personally, they pretty much tick all of the boxes in the ethical and ‘kind’ category!
2. Science-delivered results
In addition to ethics, I believe quality and results are paramount in modern skincare. We all deserve healthy and comfortable skin. Taking this notion seriously, human+kind partner with healthcare professionals including dermatologists, pharmacists, and scientists ‘to develop a superior understanding of skin, hair, and natural ingredients in order to bring the best solutions to you’. Ingredient examples include Jojoba seed oil, Marshmallow, Aloe Vera, Oat Kernel Extract, Rosehip Oil, Centella, and Shea Butter amongst others. One ingredient in their ‘Age-Defying Facial Cream’ is called Acmella Oleracea aka ‘Nature’s Botox’ which claims to visibly improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles without chemicals or needles! I use both their ‘Age-Defying Facial Cream’ and their ‘Moisturizing Facial Cream’ and can honestly say it’s clear that this brand understands skin and how it works. When applying either product, the cream melts so naturally into my skin, instantly hydrating and smoothing the surface. In essence, doing their job perfectly.
3. Pure & intense hydration for sensitive, troublesome skin
Have you ever tried a moisturizer that’s rich and creamy when it goes on but after a few moments your skin feels tight, prickly, and sensitive? Or you’ve applied a moisturizer that leaves your skin drenched in oil yet it’s still tight around the eyes and smile lines? I certainly have and it’s due to a lack of water in the skin as opposed to oil. What I value about human+kind creams is that they hydrate your skin comfortably without a greasy finish. Their creams lock in moisture that your skin has difficulty retaining and forgo the excess oil you don’t need. This is one of the aspects that made the skincare brand for me, as they are the only ones that help my skin to retain moisture.
4. Clean beauty
Speaking frankly, one of the things that had me hooked on the human+kind moisturizers aside from their deep hydration, was the healthy, clear glow my skin presents when I wear them which I haven’t experienced with other brands. Personally, I believe this speaks volumes to the power of natural ingredients and their surprising effect on our health and appearance. Plus, their products are also paraben free.
human+kind makes products with ‘time-pressed women’ in mind. Particularly, their Age Defying 3 in 1 Facial Cream is convenient to use doubling as both an eye cream and a facial moisturizer with anti-aging benefits.
6. Accessible and Affordable
human+kind conveniently ship to North America and Europe and are available in various online or brick-and-mortar stores. Their website is separated by region for easy browsing. Unfortunately, the facial moisturizers are not up on the North American site as of this writing but hopefully will be soon. They do however have a lovely range of body products available as well as their signature Double Cleanser.
Dubbed ‘Sensitive skin’s new best friend’, whether your skin is sensitive, combination, aging, or has a combination of various issues (as mine often can), it works with your skin to heal it, making it comfortable, beautiful, and glowing with health. The products are suitable for all skin types. Other noteworthy offerings I have tried are the vanilla-scented lip balm, the face scrub, and the deodorant. Honestly, the deodorant is the only vegan and cruelty-free one I’ve ever tried that works and holds up all day long.
In summary, human+kind brings quality skincare to the plant-based table. And in all honesty, with such great plant-based skincare options easily accessible nowadays there’s really no excuse for reaching for ‘cruelty-free’ products.
