Aline Dürr

Aline Dürr is an award-winning interior architect born in Berlin, Germany. After moving to Sydney, Australia in 2011, Aline started her own boutique interior design studio while also working for different bespoke interior architecture companies, mainly in commercial interior design.

In 2018, her love for animals and the birth of her daughter led her to adopt a vegan lifestyle. She felt disconnected with her career and decided to stop promoting the use of any product or material derived from animals or based on animal cruelty. She organised public events such as ‘Nup the Cup Lunch’ and ‘Eggless Easter Brunch’ to fundraise for local animal rescues and to promote cruelty-free and vegan events to non-vegans. After a lot of personal research and studies, she rebranded her interior design studio to Vegan Interior Design and created an educational platform teaching international interior design students and established interior design businesses about how to include a fast growing conscious and vegan market into their customer base and widen their skill set. To complement her online course ‘The Vegan Interior Design Method’, Aline wrote and published a book called ‘Vegan Interior Design’ which has been highly successful all over the world since its launch in October 2020 and won the PETA Vegan Homeware Awards 2021 in the category ‘Essential Reading’. The pivot from a small face-to-face service based company to an educational platform enabled her to reach a much larger audience and create an incredible network and community within a very short time; to help designers all over the world progressing the vegan interior design movement; to reach non-vegan designers, students and ‘every day people’ by educating them with her book, courses and resources and to be filmed and featured in a new vegan documentary explaining that veganism is not only about food and fashion. Aline is a leading vegan interior design expert, as well as a trend setter and thought-leader.

Discovering a new wave of vegan textiles and vegan interior designers all over the world when doing research for her book, her vision led her to launch the first ever Vegan Interior Design Week in 2021, bringing together over 40 international leaders and advocates of sustainable interior design to discuss environmentally friendly, ethical and cutting-edge alternatives.
